Forming the Election Video: Behind the Scenes
September 26th, 2008
People oftentimes invite a look at how we get the videos. When we were placing unitedly the the "Electing a US President " video, I progressed to a particular point to accept photos of the process. Hither's how it exploits:
Every video starts with a script. If there is "unavowed sauce" it happens in droping a line the script because the script takes the video. We utilize Google Docs to cooperate until we find like the script is nigh to finished. So, we go viewing a thumbnail storyboard.
I make the scenes for the thumbnail storyboard. It's our first attempt to present the visuals.
After a couple of rounds of thumbnails and lots of talking between us, we create a list of all the elements that require to be drawn for the video. At this point, I get going pulling back and digitalizing the images. Of course, with the maps in this video, I resorted to following.
Once the images are drawn and quarter and digitised, we arranged up a newfangled storyboard utilising purely digital images. This way, we can rig sizes easy and visualise how everything accommodates unitedly. Once we sense convinced, we print out the materials and begin rationalizing and coloring.
Sometimes, we entrust things reposing about and our dog makes up one’s mind to assign them in his mouth.
Before bourgeoning the video, we get together all the materials and lead them to the studio. We iterate at every point in the process. The script and visuals switch every day.
Once production starts, we travel along the storyboard and tardily put down out each scene. Oftentimes, scenes are revised on the fly. You can ne’er rattling envision how it will knead until you picture it on the screen.
Each video is dissimilar. Sometimes we die down a road, just to rule a all in end. We are both groomed to switch aside our work and begin over if it doesn't find right. It's afflictive, but necessary.
Sachi takes over control once we progress to the studio. She operates each scene, the camera, lights, etc. She carries off the voice-over and all the post production work. Editing is a vast part of what works the videos work and those decisions are Sachi's. While she's coming that, I begin this process over for the next video.
All these elements get along together to make this video (on Vimeo , YouTube and dotSUB ):
